Derek Walker Jr is a writer and filmmaker with a passion to tell engaging Black stories through science fiction, fantasy, and a dash of comedy. He graduated with a degree in Entertainment and Media Studies from the University of Georgia. However, even before college he was already producing award winning live action and animated films.

Besides producing on his own projects, Derek enjoys building creative tools and systems to enhance production workflows. Most recently he worked as a Production Coordinator on shows for Netflix and Amazon where he could be the bridge between creative ambition and technical know-how. He got the chance to flex not just his creativity, but his well-toned organization, collaboration, and problem solving muscles, helping each department get what they needed to run smoothly. With the knowledge and experience accumulated, he plans to create and show run a series of his own someday. En route to that dream, he wants to make cool things with cool people.

In short, Derek has the creative, technical, and interpersonal skills to make projects happen. He’s self motivated-…wait, um…self-driven? There’s a better phrase to describe him. A well fitting pun on the tip of my tongue… Shoot. I can’t think of it.
